~ Maritime Environments
The maritime environment is still foreign to me. I have always lived landlocked, even when I lived in the coastal state of California I was surrounded by the dry lands of the Modoc Plateau, 8 hours from the closest beach. No matter, the sea is mystical. It recycles earth carried to it by rivers and pounds rock to sand. Sand becomes entrapped in currents and compressed back into rock by the weight and pressure of water. Oceans give rise to the storms that track across the continent, the storms that rain and snow on mountains, weathering them into sand that rivers carry back to the oceans. The sea is where it all begins, and where it all ends.
